Deana Jezersek

Deana Jezeršek is a linguist who found her place in education. She is a co-founder of a language agency LanguageSitter that uses a different, more natural approach to learning and teaching languages. With the development of their own teaching method, which is based on a complete tailor-made programme for each individual, they have been proving that everyone can learn a foreign language if they are introduced to the language in the right way. She believes that knowing a language is not about saying things correctly but about being understood.
In 2017 she was honoured the title Top Potential of the Year in the programme Young Professionals, organised by AmCham Slovenia. Throughout the programme she repeatedly stressed the importance of a responsible educational system and good teachers. She is still an active member of the Future of Work and Education Committee of AmCham.
She is an initiator of the project I am a Teacher! (Učitelj sem! Učiteljica sem!), which was set up to enhance the respect, reward and celebration of teachers in Slovenia, and to inspire the best possible candidates to join the teaching profession. It does this by finding and exposing great teachers and sharing their remarkable stories.
