Chanveasna “Veasna” Nhean is the co-founder and Executive Director of Women for Women Foundation (WfWF) based in Kandal Province, Cambodia. WfWF was founded in 2005 and its mission is to promote the advancement of women through social empowerment, community economic development, and civic engagement. Veasna is responsible for the operations and programs of the organization. Specifically, in the community economic development program, she manages a social enterprise that provides training and employment to 62 women with disability from poor rural provinces at the center and those who are home-based. Since 2005, over 500 women have been trained and employed by the organization. The handmade products are exported to EU, USA, Australia, Laos, Vietnam, and Canada. In the last three years she worked with International Trade Center to promote the trade and sales of Cambodian silk to contribute to Cambodia’s economic development and creating jobs for women.

Prior to working for WfWF, she was a Set Designer and Producer’s Assistant for the Cambodian Television Network. She volunteered to work for HIV Program of Cambodia Red Cross between 2000-2002. Ms. Nhean was selected to join Asian Youth Cup in Malaysia in 2001 to train with other Asian young leader.

Ms. Nhean graduated from the Royal University of Fine Arts with a bachelor degree in Interior Design. Meanwhile, she was President of the Student Association at the Royal University of fine Arts. She have received a scholarship from The Association for Oversea Technical Scholarship (AOTS) to attend a training on Management Design skills and Top Management skills in Japan and training with the Mekong Institute to promote “Cluster linkages in the Greater Mekong Sub region (GMS)”.
