Catalina joined the Center in 2015 and is responsible of managing regional office operations, as well as identifying opportunities for litigation before UN and Inter-American human rights bodies in collaboration with partner organizations. She is also responsible of conducting general legal research on reproductive rights in the region.
Catalina came from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, where she worked as a human rights specialist in the friendly settlements group and the registry section. Before joining the Commission, she was a field legal officer at the UNDP in Montes de María, Colombia, in the program on peace and reconciliation. Prior to that, she worked as an intern for the International Federation for Human Rights in Paris and for the UNHCR in Colombia and Paris. Catalina received Master’s degrees on international affairs from Sciences Po Paris and on international law and international organizations from Paris University Panthéon-Sorbonne. Catalina’s native tongue is Spanish. She is also fluent in French.
