Coming from a small town in the hinterland of Bihar, Ms. Archana Kumari, an alumni of Indian Institute of Mass Communication with academic experience of last 10 years including one teaching at her alma-mater Indian Institute of Mass Communication; is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication and New Media at Central University of Jammu. She served at Central University of Kashmir as only one non-kashmiri Professor in her department and among two non-kashmiri Professors in the whole university which was very challenging yet she became favourite of her students there so much so that they still seek her guidance and the university invites her for various assignments. Even UGC appoints her on many assignments considering her as the most suitable person for the valley. She established the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Central University of Bihar as first Head-in-Charge of the department in the very initial days of her academic career. Beyond academics she has been active in journalism too and worked as media professional in Hindustan Times (Patna), All India Radio (Delhi), Sahara TV. She has also worked as a freelancer for many print and online media. Her area of expertise is Media Economics, Development Communication, Media Laws, Media Research and Print Media.

In the environment where the clouds of fake news are hovering over the journalism industry, she conducted many workshops as Google certified trainer; both at educational institutions and news rooms to create awareness towards fake news and to enable the journalists to fight with this menace. Apart from these, she has remained active in nurturing and inspiring new talents in the field of journalism in Jammu & Kashmir.
