Anup Sharma is a Strategic Communications Consultant with more than two decades of experience in Public Relations, Public Policy, Political Campaign Management, Digital and Social Media Outreach. With a deep understanding of the challenges in the Indian demographic framework, Anup brings in abilities to decipher and connect with multiple stakeholder environments through strategic integrated communication models.
Anup is senior director with Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI) and was associated with MyGov India, the citizen engagement platform for the Government of India, working closely with the CEO for key projects with various ministries. Prior to this he was advising the Union Ministry of Urban Development for the communication program for key initiatives including Swachh Bharat and Smart City. He has devised and conducted reputation and public affairs programs for multinational companies and interest groups across a broad range of industries and political leaders including head of states and first-time contestants. He has worked with clients spread across sectors and has been associated with many leading Indian and global corporations including Tata Group, Coca-Cola, Google India, Government of Punjab, Government of Rajasthan, POSCO-India, Cairn India, SABMiller India, Godfrey Phillips India (GPI), Max India, CNBC Asia, Seagate.
Anup was closely involved in the media campaign for three chief ministers, two union ministers across party lines, advising and managing their key messaging and social media campaigns and election war room.
As an external communication consultant for World Bank, Anup had been involved in designing & implementing the communication component for the National Rural Livelihood Mission, Agriculture & Rural Development Program and with IFC (Intl Finance Corporation) was part of the lead communication team in the Investment Climate Advisory (tax reform program) for the Government of Bihar. Prior to this he was leading the design, management, monitoring and evaluation of strategic communication and partnerships for the UNICEF: `India Unite To End Polio Now’ campaign.
In his over 2 decades of professional career, Anup has worked with some of the leading Public Relations & Communications firms including Weber Shandwick, Perfect Relations, Vaishnavi Corporate Communications, Solutions I Digitas and is an active member of the industry bodies like PRCAI, OneSource, IPRF.
Anup is an MBA in Advertising & Public Relations from Indore and holds a Post Graduate diploma in Sales & Marketing. He is a regular columnist and also a visiting faculty to communication and management institutes across India where he shares his experience of the science of communications for the Corporate and Development sector. He is also closely involved with the TEDxMehrauli and TEDxDelhi events and has been involved in curating properties like #360DegreeDisruption #AdvantageConclave.
