Raj Nayak is an industry veteran whose foresight has made COLORS a name synonymous with Hindi General Entertainment in India. A visionary with a career spanning over two decades across profiles in the media & entertainment space, today Raj is one of the most highly regarded thought leaders in the advertising, marketing and media circles in India. In 2011 Raj took charge as Chief Executive Officer of COLORS, Viacom18’s flagship brand in the entertainment space. He provided vital insight and impetus to consolidate the brand’s position as an influential player in the GEC space. His business acumen is marked by an eye for creative content that aids high revenue generation to strengthen the bottom-line effortlessly. A complete people’s person who leads from the front, Raj is a risk taker and quick decision maker. Extremely astute and savvy, Raj began his career with Tata Economic Consultancy Services and has since worked in various capacities both in the print & electronic media. In 1993 Raj joined STAR TV Group (a News Corporation company owned by Rupert Murdoch) as Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing where he spent 10 years and was responsible for strategizing, packaging and marketing of all the STAR TV channels and for the group’s advertising revenue. In 2002 Raj joined NDTV Media Limited as CEO & a minority stakeholder in the company and helped set up the company. His entrepreneurial ability soon lead him to set up his own independent entrepreneurial venture AIDEM Ventures Pvt. Ltd as Founder and Managing Director. Raj made his transition to Colors – Viacom18 from AIDEM Ventures Pvt. Ltd. and heralded the launch of Rishtey soon after. Raj was recently appointed as the CEO and Business Head of Viacom 18’s newly launched 24 hour Hindi Movie Channel called Rishtey CINEPLEX. In addition to handling such a robust portfolio, Raj is also the President of the Advertising Club. He has also been on the board of many industry bodies such as the International Advertising Association (IAA) – India Chapter, Media Research Users Council (MRUC) & The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF). He also holds the Co-Chair at the PromaxBDA.
