Ankita Sharma is a young Sustainability Leader and Climate Force Ambassador carrying rich and diverse experience of anchoring Sustainability practices across various sectors for reputed global organizations. She is also a ‘Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum’ and ‘Lead India Fellow’.

She is a regular contributor to various notable Policy making groups on Sustainability and Environment issues including Bombay Chamber of Commerce (BCC), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and others.

Currently, Ankita works for Marico Limited (a leading Consumer Goods company in India) and has worked with TERI-World Bank’s project on Himachal Pradesh’s Tourism and Arvind Limited (textile manufacturing giant) in the past.

After completing Engineering in Computer Science, she has done her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Business Sustainability from TERI (The Energy Research Institute), followed by an advanced course in Social and Environmental Business Management from World Bank Institute.

Her role with the private corporations is to advise Leadership on Sustainability along with developing organizational approaches including setting up organizational targets and aligning them in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for conducting the business responsibly.

She has introduced the roots of sustainability as well as disclosure, transparency and reporting in the Indian Textile Industry. She extends her experience and knowledge in developing Sustainability Policy and Framework, developing sustainability roadmap for businesses, forming a solid foundation of sustainability communication channel internally and externally.

She has successfully led environmental, social and governance programs focusing on Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, Sustainable Tourism, Carbon Reduction, Farmer Development, Health & Safety, Waste Management, Education, Skill Development and Livelihood Generation, Sustainable Fashion and others. She has worked and contributed in the remote rural areas of India like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Coimbatore.

During her professional stint with various organizations, she has successfully established strong relationships between national & international organizations, regulators, industries and local communities including Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), GreenCo- Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), World Resource Institute (WRI), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) etc. She has facilitated Bombay Chamber of Commerce (BCC) in developing Supplier Sustainability toolkit for Small & Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

She is also the founder of “GIRL RIDERS”- a community for promoting women empowerment and actively speaks on various sustainable issues. As a founder of this group, she has organized several events in Ahmedabad city focused on women and youth empowerment, water conservation awareness drive and open talks on local sustainability issues.
