CEO, Western Australian ABORIGINAL Leadership Institute

Australia

I was born and raised in Perth with two sisters. My father came to Perth from India when he was four. My mother was a Perth girl. I am a wife and mother and also full time carer of my grandson. I have many years of leadership experience in education and the not for profit sector striving to improve the outcomes and opportunities for children and youth who struggle in mainstream education and learning settings, whose different abilities and experiences impact on their success and achievements. After many years in the education sector, I transferred my leadership skills to the for purpose sector maintaining my strong sense of social responsibility to making this world a better place for all our children and youth in remote Aboriginal communities in WA and the NT with a particular focus on improving the health of children and their families through providing sustainable, local access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
In September 2018 I was honoured to be appointed as the inaugural CEO of the Western Australian Aboriginal Leadership Institute – inspiring and supporting Aboriginal people to take up leadership opportunities to strengthen their families, communities and careers.
