This is with regard to the WEF 18 Award of “Young Leaders Creating a Better World for All”; and “Young Innovators Creating a Better World for All”. I do believe that my candidacy to your already very- well established team of panellists will contribute in a positive way to the topics I have chosen to speak on. ‘The economics of going back to nature’ is a subject that I have worked on extensively in my career. My publication and subsequent patent in Biochemistry that improved agriculture, naturally, was awarded by the President of India. It has gone on to impact the lives of numerous farmers in India who used my natural scientific method to prevent Eutrophication. Furthermore, I am being funded by the Ray C. Anderson School of Business and Sustainability at The Georgia Institute of Technology to lead a team on cutting edge research that uses nature-inspired design in Biomimcry to solve a deep technological Climate Change problem. I believe that my expertise in this field will bring a unique perspective to this topic that I have chosen to speak on. As a woman in the field of Materials engineering, I have faced some roadblocks when it comes to the pursuing Engineering. As an example, I am currently working on a Hyperloop Design that has 32 members, with only 3 women on the team. As I strive for equal representation in my workplace, and equality in the Engineering field that is highly male-dominated, I have learnt lessons that I would like to share with your community- lessons I wish someone had given me when I ventured into my own field. I would be grateful to have such a platform at WEF, to talk on working and branding oneself in a male dominated field. Finally, the topic ‘How fake news does real harm’ is a topic that I have dedicated technological and scientific expertise to in my career at The Georgia Institute of Technology and will be publishing a thesis on, soon. I truly understand the nature of the problem space when it comes to this topic, and will be more than happy to share my views on the same. I have attached my resume below for your kind perusal. I would be very grateful for your consideration of my candidacy.
