ALL LADIES LEAGUE honors CM Prithviraj Chavan and leading Mumbai Women
January 2, Mumbai: Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra congratulated ALL LADIES LEAGUE for identifying women from different fields and honoring them with Women of the Decade Achievers Award. He said that the honoring distinguished ladies will motivate other women to come forward and actively participate in different spheres of life. He was speaking at the ALL Mumbai Women of the Decade Achievers Award, held in Mumbai today. Shri Chavan was the chief guest at the event.
In her welcome address, Dr. Harbeen Arora, Global Chairperson of ALL said, “We are celebrating the achievements and influence of leading ladies who have created much inspiration through their commitment and excellence in different walks of life.??? At the award function, ALL felicitated eight outstanding women, including Supriya Sule, MP from Baramati constituency; Rajashree Birla, a noted philanthropist and chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives & Rural Development; Chanda Kochhar, CEO-ICICI Bank; Anu Aga, a social worker & iconic businesswoman; Brinda Somaya, noted architect; Surekha Sikri, acclaimed theater artist and film actress; Brahm Kumari Sister Shivani, Rajyoga meditation teacher; and Indu Shahani, former sheriff of Mumbai & Principal, HR College of Commerce & Economics for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields. Dr. Arora also added, “As we forge ahead in 2014, we ALL wish to begin the New Year with energy, inspiration, vigor, and hope, for more progress for women. Because that is the way forward for families to become happier, society to become stronger, and economies to become buoyant.???
At the Award function, Shri Prithviraj Chavan was also honored with award for Excellence in Public Service. While presenting the award to Shri Chavan; Rana Kapoor, President of Assocham and MD & CEO of YES Bank applauded the Maharashtra government’s initiatives for promoting women entrepreneurship and women’s safety. Earlier, the ALL honored Supriya Sule for her Excellence in Social Service; Rajashree Birla for Excellence as an Exemplar for Women; Chanda Kochhar for Excellence in Banking; Anu Aga for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Service; Brinda Somaya for Excellence in Architecture and Urban Conservation; Surekha Sikri for Excellence in Acting; BK Sister Shivani for Excellence in Empowering Spiritual Consciousness; and Indu Shahani for Excellence in Education and Community Development.
The ALL Awards underscore the paramount role played by women in society through their initiatives, will-power and perseverance. Instituted by ALL, Women of the Decade Achievers Award is tribute to their spirit and strength and which will inspire the women of today to succeed and make a mark for themselves in work and society.
At the event, Dr. K.C. Chakrabarty, Deputy Governor, RBI; Rana Kapoor, CEO & MD-YES Bank; Hafeez Contractor, famed architect; and Nina Lath, MD-NFDC were conferred with the honorary degree of doctorate by Rai University, one of the premier private universities in India offering world class education.
