Sandhya Rao is an entrepreneur and founder of start up venture Wikiwear™ Inc, along with her sister, Sukanya. She has developed a portfolio of branded fashion apparel and accessories with some products focussed on cancer care. These include specially designed fashionable head-scarves, post surgical clothing and low cost breast accessories. Wikiwear™ works directly with cancer hospitals in retailing these products. She is also the co-founder of a healthcare technology venture, RedMed Health Systems, with her husband, Jay Srinivasan. RedMed enables affordable preventive care for early detection of chronic disease, specifically cardiovascular conditions and diabetes, and their reversal. She has a degree in engineering from Bangalore University and a post-graduate diploma in entrepreneurship development from NIESBUD, Delhi. She has been in the apparel industry for over 20 years servicing both the export and domestic markets.
Sandhya is the ALL Ladies League India Chairperson for Startup Support. Under the aegis of ALL, she has led and organised many events targeted at entrepreneurs and promoted startup ventures in
Bangalore and part of the lead team for events in Chennai, Salem and Hospet. She has also been a core member of the organising team for the Women Economic Forum, Chennai, and in creating and
launching of many ALL chapters across South India. She is actively involved with NGOs such as Chiguru, which works for the underprivileged children, and the India Literacy Project (ILP), a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to spreading the cause of literacy in India. Sandhya is a Kathak dancer and is currently also learning to play Carnatic violin. A voracious reader,
a Bollywood retro music buff, in her spare time, she dabbles with theater and costume styling for the movies.
