Whose history is it anyway?

Museums have typically tended to focus on the history of “a long, long time ago” or on kings, gods and the like- but increasingly around the world, Museums have come up that remember relatively recent events of the last 100 years where people who were impacted were still alive when the Museums were established. What does it take to build a contemporary Museum? How important is it? What are the challenges? Similarly, how does contemporary art/photography/literature deal with recent history? The panel will discuss this in light of the recent Museum established to remember the Partition of India (which led to the largest mass migration in world history) as well as other contemporary art projects that deal with recent history
