Smarita Sengupta

Smarita Sengupta , co-founder : Destiny Foundation/ Reflection a social enterprise. Prior to founding Destiny Smarita worked with for profits much later to realize that her real passion lies in social entrepreneurship. While working with an anti trafficking organization Smarita gained meaningful experience about trafficking. Increased understanding of the needs of the children living/rescued from brothel – had her passion grew, pushing her to start a social business to improve the survivors lives. Through this sustainable social business model – Smarita addressed the severely limited economic opportunities for survivors of trafficking,which makes young girls vulnerable to re-experiencing exploitation.
Paid training, housing, job opportunities, helped the survivors with improved skill, economic empowerment -leading to safe reintegration .
The eco-friendly/ ethical products created has developed a global market which helped reintegrate 100 girls, and serving 70.
Smarita earned her fellowships from Columbia University & 92Y Ford &GWLN). “Leader of Impact Award 2013 – GWLN – Silicon Valley.
Nominee- CNN-News 18 Indian of the year 2015 – Public Service .
