Janice Lao

As a trained environmental scientist and development economist, Janice is able to uniquely look at sustainability through a business, social and environmental lens. Throughout her 15-year career, she has worked for world-renowned international think tanks and blue-chip multinational conglomerates in the transport, energy, extractive, FMCG, property and hospitality sectors. Her expertise lies in embedding sustainability into businesses– ranging from sustainability management, successful identification and implementation of projects using green bond, M&A, and equity financing structures, as well as advising board members/senior management. She has worked in the Asia-Pacific, North American and European regions. She graduated with an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and a diploma in business from the University of Oxford Said Business School. She was awarded the 2014 FWN Global Most Influential Women of the Year – Emerging Leader; 2015 Global Sustainable Leadership Award, fellow of the Pioneers for Change Fellowship Programme in the United Kingdom and led one of Hong Kong’s successful green bonds listed in Fortune Magazine’s 50 Change the World List.
