Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu honors Grassroots Women of the Decade ALL Ladies League

September 25, 2014; Delhi: A matriarch in Maharashtra adopts over one thousand orphan children; another in Rajasthan becomes the youngest Sarpanch of her native village with an MBA, leaving a lucrative corporate career behind; and yet another 23 year old becomes the first Kashimiri woman to develop an android app for the people of her state.
These and many such wondrous women achievers were honored by the ALL Ladies League (ALL), the country’s first all-women chamber, at its Grassroots Women of the Decade Achievers Awards. ALL honored 36 phenomenal women leaders from more than 16 different States covering all corners of the country, from Village Soda to Sikkim, from Qadri to Kolkatta, from Mumbai to Madurai, from Vrindavan to Manipur, from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu, from Telangana to Uttarakhand.

Minister Naidu said on the occasion, “Today, women are not only making a mark for themselves but helping many others, especially the marginalized and vulnerable sections of society???. Dr. Harbeen Arora, Global Chairperson, ALL Ladies League added that, “proactive efforts like this one are needed to highlight women’s leadership across the country so that many more women are inspired to engage in society at multiple levels???.

ALL conferred grassroots women leaders namely Meera Munda, social activist; Mehvish Mushtaq, first Kashmiri woman App developer; Anar Patel, founder of Gramshree; Chavvi Rajawat, first woman Sarpanch in Rajasthan who left her corporate job for it; Meenalochani Raghunathan of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation for CSR; Uma Chigurupati of Hyderabad Heritage Foundation; Hiresha Verma of Dehradun who is a social entrepreneur helping women in Uttarakhand to rebuild their lives after the floods through a vibrant mushroom business; Dr. Alana Golmei of the 24/7 “North East Helpline and Support Center??? Dr. Sailakshmi Balijepalli of Ekam Foundation working for zero child mortality; Valli Annamalai from Madurai curbing female infanticide; Anjum Chopra, Former Indian Captain, Women’s Team; Anu Wakhlu, phenomenal corporate coach; Anuja Gupta, founder Rahi Foundation, fighting for child sexual abuse; Aparna Banerjee, generating employment opportunity for poverty-ridden women; Bharati Chaturvedi a campaigner for livelihoods of waste pickers, Bina Sheth educating children from slums; Cheruvu Bhanuja, protecting children and women from forced labour and migration; Geeta Menon, uplifting domestic workers; Grace Nirmala, rescuer of joginis; Jamuna Tudu, protecting forests with green army; Jaya Devi, Green Lady of Bihar; Jodie Underhill, crusader for cleanliness; K.S Sarojamma, protecting child right and known as ‘Amma’, Laxmi Gautam, giving new life to windows of Vrindavan; Mary Vattamattam; promoting rural women in governance, Muktaben Dagli, empowering blind girls; Naina Kapoor, safeguarding the women in workplace; Prema Gopalan, rehabilitating disaster struck areas; Ruchira Gupta, fighting human sex trafficking; Dr. Saraswathi Sankaran, training and counseling street youth; Dr. Sunitha Krishnan, promoting trafficking-free society; Sushobha Barve, promoting peace among conflict-stricken areas; Vandana Gupta, giving new life to cancer victims through V-Care; Vijaya Bharathi, fostering women leadership at grassroots and Yishey Doma Bhutia, a prolific writer invited to stay at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
