Dr Maha Hosain Aziz is a professor, author and cartoonist in the MA International Relations Program at NYU specialising in global risk and prediction; she’s also a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics’ Institute of Global Affairs. Her first award-winning book, Future World Order (2019) has been called a “must-read” (Dr Ian Bremmer, Kishore Mahbubani) written by a “global thinker to watch” (Dr Nouriel Roubini); the second edition launched in January 2020 at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London (15% of all of her book profits go to her brother’s memorial fund for Syrian refugee youth in Jordan’s Za’atari camp via charity Peace & Sport). Dr Aziz also drew the five-time award-winning political comic book The Global Kid (2016), which is being adapted for adults. She is a former Businessweek columnist and HuffPost blogger who now contributes to Medium and Thrive Global. On occasion she still consults on risk via Wikistrat, the world’s first crowdsourced consultancy, and other networks. She is a Jordanian-born Pakistani who grew up in the Middle East (Jordan, Saudi Arabia), Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia), Europe (UK, Greece) and the US. And she is a social scientist trained at Brown (BA), Columbia (MA) and the LSE (MSc, PhD).
