Ar. Apurva Bose Dutta (www.apurvabose.com) is a Bengaluru-based author and architectural journalist. She graduated in architecture from Chandigarh College of Architecture in 2005 and obtained a diploma in freelance journalism from the UK.
Having worked in the core editorial teams of India’s leading architectural magazines Architecture+Design and Indian Architect & Builder, her professional experience also includes her work and collaborations with multiple national and international print and
digital design publications, publishing houses, design firms and organisations and web portals. These include Indian publications such as Domus India, Home Review, Design Detail, mondo*arc india, Inside outside, Living etc, Architecture Time Space and People.
Globally she has worked for publications in the UK, US, Karachi, Italy, Indonesia, Singapore and Canada including Architectural Review, World Architecture News, Archi Times and Architecture+Interiors. She has also collaborated with the Indian Institute of Architects and brands like Saint Gobain and Sonear to write on architecture and design. Apurva enjoys exploring new subjects in design, comprehending their ideologies and bringing forth architecture that makes a difference and needs to be noticed, which she does by writing and talking on various aspects of the field. Over the years, she has been persistently taking initiatives to increase the visibility of architectural journalism in the country. In 2013, under the Indian Institute of Architects, she conceptualised and spearheaded the first magazine issue in India, dedicated entirely to architectural journalism. In 2016, she was invited by the Australian Government to represent the Indian delegation as a part of two-week International Media Visit of Architectural Writers in Melbourne. Her book, ARCHITECTURAL VOICES OF INDIA: A Blend of Contemporary and Traditional Ethos launched in 2017 end brings together the voices of
19 illustrious architects in India, initiating a discourse on architecture—as a subject and profession. For her contribution to the field of architecture, she has received awards from the architecture & design industry for Excellence in Architectural Journalism (2015);Creative Excellence in Architectural Journalism (2010) and A3F award in Architectural Journalism (2009).
