Ms. Mustafayeva has an extensive management, strategic development, teaching and training experience. She is the Head of the Strategic Development Committee and Advisor to the Rector on International Relations in Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport. Before this position she worked as an Associate Vice Rector at ADA University (ADAU) Azerbaijan. In this capacity she was responsible for faculty recruitment and development, quality assurance, and teaching and research excellence in ADAU. From 2005 to 2008, Shams worked as Training Director for Peace Corps Azerbaijan, and led Peace Corps Azerbaijan staff in planning and delivering all the capacity building trainings designed for the Peace Corps Volunteers and their Azerbaijani counterparts.
Shams holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Methodology from the Azerbaijan University of Languages and a TESOL Certificate from SIT. In 2008 she received the Edmund S. Muskie graduate scholarship to study Public Administration at Maxwell School of Syracuse University (SU). In 2010, Shams graduated with a dual master’s degree in Public Administration and International Relations. She also holds Advanced Certificates from SU in Conflict Resolution and in Managing International NGOs.
Ms. Mustafayeva continues her work as an Adjunct Faculty at ADAU and teaches a number of training courses on leadership development, change management, negotiations, strategic communication, conflict resolution, and training and presentation skills for the Executive Education Program. She is also an active supporter of women’s empowerment and leads various projects, trainings and talks on the topic of “Women and the Future in Azerbaijan.”
