Diva Sharma is an eighteen-year old student activist and technologist currently on a gap-year. At age 15, Diva invented a device that could detect distress in animals. This device received notable credit from the Indian Government. In turn, she filed for a scientific patent with the Indian Government. She also received an award from the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-Ahmedabad). She is a named scientific researcher under the Indian Government and received the Times of India Student of the Year Award.
Diva is also a keen orator. Having presented at conferences both at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC as the youngest representative from India, Diva seeks to merge her passion for technology and economics. She spoke at the Nexus India Youth Summit among various indian industrialists. She also delivered a TEDx talk titled ‘Girls need to lean in too!’ that was selected by TED to be featured on the famous TEDx Playlists. Her talk reached an audience of over 40,000 people and also featured on CNN-IBN news channel. Diva is currently researching on macroeconomic trends under the Indian Government and working to invent the human version of a device that can detect distress in animals.
